"In May of 2011, Todd arrived at my home to perform an energy audit. After Todd explained the equipment and process, he used his systematic and thorough approach throughout the house. Todd located three areas in my ceiling, where insulation had either been moved or had not been installed correctly. I climbed into the attic and fixed the insulation issues. Todd was able to confirm, with his equipment, that I had corrected the insulation issue. Finding and fixing this issue has saved me approx $10-$20 a month on heat and air conditioning costs. "I purchased my home about 8 years ago. The first few years of ownership, I was amazed at how much my energy bills were in comparison to my previous Modesto address. I thought it was usage. My family began to curve their usage. We tried everything from low-energy light bulbs to shutting everything off and rationing our energy. All these things had measurable impacts, yet it was still very cold inside in the winter and very warm inside in the summer when we did not use our heating and cooling system. Upon completion of my inspection, it was determined that none of my plumbing was leaking, my electrical panel was fine, exterior walls were fine, and my doors and windows were more efficient than previously expected.
Thermal Solutions was a great service. Todd is a great guy and very professional. I would highly recommend this service to anyone, business owner or homeowner. Furthermore, I would not buy a used home, or sign off on a new one without having Thermal Solutions do an inspection on it. Even though the builder would not cover the repairs because it was past his warranty period. With the comprehensive inspection report I received via email from Todd the next day, I feel I could have easily pursued this matter legally and been successful. I opted not to do that for headaches sake.
I went to Home Depot, rented an Atticat blower and purchased 10 bails of fiberglass blow-in insulation for a total of $269.00 (Home Depot rents the blower for free if you purchase 10 bails or more of the insulation). I needed all 10 bails. One bail equaled 65 square feet of coverage at R30 insulating. It took me 3 hours to set up, blow the insulation, clean the equipment and return it to Home Depot. What a noticeable difference. The 5 to 7 degrees temperature drop from my hallway to my bedroom is gone. The house stays warmer longer, and the heater does not run as long or turn on as often. Trust me when I say, if you are having energy problems, step one in finding your solution is a Thermal Solutions thermal inspection."
